Simple Triangle Pinched is our Design of the Week!

The Design

Simple Setting Triangle - Pinched

It’s an easy, unassuming shape. The lines are clean and the design is perfect for flying geese blocks and other 90 degree triangle blocks.

One of the coolest elements of the Simple Triangle Pinched design is that the point, that’d you may expect to be at the center, is off to the right and left. This lower center-ish point, also does not touch the bottom edge of the design. Why is that cool? This tiny detail means this design is much easier to align on your robotic quilting systems. Hooray for easy stuff!

On A Quilt

When using this design, staggering the repeating rows will give an interesting secondary design. The top point will align with the row above.

Variation

Since the Simple Triangle Pinched block starts and ends on opposite sides, consider making this design into a quilt block. Start by placing the design and rotating it to create four sides.

Then connect the corners to create a unique block.

This method works if the pinched point is facing outward, rather than inward, too.

Unusual Uses

Now, lets take the two blocks that you’ve created to stitch out in your robotic quilting system and stack them. The design in the center is scaled smaller slightly to create the inner shape. There will be a jump between these two blocks when stitched out.

Another fantastic variation of the design is staggering and FLIPPING the edge to edge design. This manipulation can also be set in most robotic quilting systems.

Set a shorter stitch length and crop/mask the applique to create this unique background texture.
