Barbie started sewing as a young girl and quilting as a teenager. She studied Family and Consumer Science in college and spent 7 years teaching in public schools.

After leaving teaching, she began hand-guided longarm quilting in 2012 and using a computerized system in 2017. She has been designing pantographs since 2021 and teaching pantograph design since 2023. Her goal is to create the majority of her pantographs in a way so that they are easy to line up and stitch out, with minimal to no backtracking.
She lives in northern Utah with her husband and four children.
